Sharmin Doering is a Certified Community Action Professional (CCAP), a Nationally Certified ROMA Trainer, earned a Masters Degree in Science and a Bachelors Degree in Education from Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. Employed as Executive Director of Sangamon County Community Resources from 2005-2019, Sharmin coordinated and administered the CSBG program and also administered the LIHEAP and WX programs with the agency energy coordinator. She was responsible for all outreach efforts in the community and is past chairman and current vice chairman of the Springfield Community Federation (SCF). Sharmin also served on the boards of Illinois Ventures in Community Action (IVCA), the Illinois Association of Community Action Agencies (IACAA) and the Community Action Development Corporation (ICADC). Sharmin’s father was appointed as the first Community Action president in Springfield in 1966 by Mayor Howarth soon after Community Action became a federal public initiative. She grew up in an educational environment and taught for 5 years. Her father was the school principal at Iles School, the largest elementary school at the time with the highest low-income population. Sharmin is married to Gary and they have three unique and wonderful cats.

Jane Hopkins has 25 years experience in nonprofit management with more than 15 years in community action. A Nationally Certified ROMA Trainer and Certified Community Action Professional (CCAP), Jane is well versed in Community Assessment and Planning, as well as program development, implementation, and evaluation.

Gina Strafford-Ahmed is the Administrator of Intake and Referral and the CSBG Coordinator for DuPage County Department of Community Services in Wheaton, Illinois. She has over twenty five years of experience in Community Action. She is a Certified Community Action Professional (CCAP), Nationally Certified ROMA (Results Oriented Management and Accountability) trainer, Certified Public Manager (CPM), and a Certified Information and Referral Specialist (CIRS). She serves on three statewide boards: Illinois Ventures in Community Action, Board Chair; 2-1-1 Illinois, Board Chair; and Illinois Alliance of Information and Referral Systems, Board Member. She also is the Board Chair for the Parent's Alliance Employment Project organization. She graduated with a B.A. in Public Administration from Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois.

Christine Westerlund is the director of Professional Development for the Illinois Association of Community Action Agencies. She has over thirty years of experience working with governmental entities and non-profit organizations as a researcher, grant writer and trainer. Christine is a nationally certified ROMA (Results Oriented Management and Accountability) professional for the Community Action network, a Family and Community Development Specialist, Gold Star trainer for Communication Across Barriers (Dr. Donna Beegle's curriculum) and Family Development Credential trainer and a Certified Community Action Professional. A graduate of Eastern Illinois University, she is also an active community volunteer, published author and Board Vice President of the Chatham Area Public Library District.

Susan Wilson has been the C.E.F.S. Adult Literacy and Education Resource Coordinator since 2011. She is president of the Community Area Service Providers and an active member of the Effingham Chamber of Commerce. Susan is a nationally-certified ROMA Trainer and Implementer. She and her husband own a small fruit and vegetable farm in southern Illinois.
